Kincaid builds Girl Scout Award project

Posted

Hannah Kincaid wanted to earn the Girl Scout Gold Award Project Badge. She chose to replace the tables under the main pavilion at the Thompsonville Community Center. Fourteen new wooden tables and benches were attached to steel frames. Hannah had to document the first step to the last with plans, budget and pictures of the work as it progressed. To fund the project, Hannah contacted members of the Thompsonville community for donations. A table could be donated in honor or memory of someone. A plaque to be placed inside the Center lists the donors and honorees and states:

The new picnic tables under the main pavilion are a Girl Scout Award Project by Hannah Kincaid with the help from her family, friends and Girl Scout Troop 1179. Special Thanks to the Thompsonville Cemetery Association for their support. Donations were given in remembrance of past and present residents of the community. April 11, 2011.

An individual plate will be attached to each table stating who donated the funds and who it was in honor or remembrance of.

Dwana Kincaid, Hannah’s mother, is a former member of the Thompsonville Ladies Club. After Dwana gave us a presentation on the project, the Club donated a table in honor of all past and present members of the Club.
