Chamber touts ‘exciting growth, prosperity’

The Gonzales Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture has some “grand plans” in store for 2013 that incoming president Sascha Kardosz revealed Friday night at the organization’s 91st annual membership banquet.

“Gonzales County is experiencing exciting growth and prosperity,” Kardosz told a gathering of more than 200 people at the Hermann Sons Hall. “We are fortunate to be located in the heart of Texas history as well as the Eagle Ford Shale. The economic development, employment opportunities and lifestyle that this boom has brought to Gonzales County are truly blessings. We should be proud to be a part of this significant time in history.”

Kardosz intrigued her audience with what she called “grand plans” to benefit Gonzales, the chamber and its members. Among the anticipated changes are a monthly newsletter which will enable the chamber to inform its members of local events and happenings; a Facebook page and Twitter account, “great tools to partner with our local business in order to promote Shop Gonzales as well as other community events:” and an updated chamber website which is expected to have “the ability to purchase Come & Take It souvenirs online in an effort to reach out to our cyber friends.”

The president said the chamber will continue to partner with Main Street for the First Friday Coffee events, and will work closely with the historical commission, tourism committee and the city to promote community events.

“By means of networking, seminars, mixers. luncheons and events throughout the year, we will expand the promotion of our members’ business services and products.”

Kardosz also announced her hope to form a volunteerism committee, and encouraged members to step forward, because “we all have something we can contribute to our community.”
