NIXON — Police have a suspect in custody who is charged with Monday’s armed robbery of a local business.

NPD Officer Justin Solis reported that on Wed. Aug. 3, Jarred Woodward, 37, of Pawnee, was apprehended near his residence in Karnes County in connection with the armed robbery that occurred at Reliable Finance in Nixon. A video of the robbery shows Woodward enter the building and talk briefly with the store’s employee before drawing a gun and demanding cash.

“Woodward was named a person of interest with at least three other recent armed robberies in surrounding counties including home invasion,” Solis said. “At this time law enforcement agencies are still gathering information and will post updates as they become available.”

Woodward is currently in custody in Gonzales County Jail, and is charged with armed robbery. He is being held on a $500,000 bond.

“NPD Officer Jorge Carmona has worked closely over the course of two days with several other agencies to include Gonzales Police Department Capt. Allen Taylor and Investigator Jason Montoya,” Solis said.

Solis also expressed his gratitude to fellow law enforcement including the Gonzales County Constables Office Precinct 4, Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office, Gonzales County Prosecutor’s Office, Karnes County Sheriff's Office, Texas Rangers, Atascosa County Sheriff's Office and Live Oak County Sheriff's Office.
